This year we took a look on Portugal’s map and decided that we should visit more our country. We really have wonderful places in Portugal that we don’t know yet.

With no particular reason, we choose to visit Penamacor, with is a place in Castelo Branco, very beautiful and picturesque. The main visit points are the Pelourinho (I don’t know if this have a direct translation), the Watchtower, the ruins of the Castle (which is undergoing remodeling works in the accesses), the Municipal Library building and the República’s Garden. We went to all of them but couldn’t made it to the library which was closed. At the middle of the walk we had lunch on the “Jardim” restaurant very hidden, with the best food. Finding Penamacor took us to discover “Moinho do Maneio”. A quiet, peaceful, nature place. With cosy beautiful houses – notice this: no TV, instead the access to the stars and the sky – just perfect! It’s the best place to turn off the world and connect with the nature, the loved ones, and ourselves. It has many activities like: horse riding, canoeing, trampolines, among others. Totally kid-friendly, the best for us, with animals, water, space for run, everything kids love. We strongly recommend to put this on your road trip map. Penamacor is very close to Monsanto – the most Portuguese village in Portugal – which is another plus point to get to know this piece of Portugal.

Este ano olhámos para o mapa de Portugal e decidimos que temos que visitar mais o nosso país.
Temos realmente lugares maravilhosos em Portugal e que não os conhecemos.
Sem nenhuma razão ou lógica, escolhemos visitar Penamacor.
Penamacor é uma vila do distrito de Castelo Branco, muito castiça e pitoresca. Tem como pontes de interesse o Pelourinho, a Torre de Vigia, as ruínas do Castelo (que está a sofrer obras de remodelações nos acessos), o edificio da Biblioteca Municipal e o Jardim da República.
Visitamos todos mas não conseguimos entrar na Biblioteca pois estava fechada quando lá fomos. No meio do passeio acabamos por almoçar no “O Jardim”, um restaurante super escondido mas que se come maravilhosamente bem!
Descobrimos Penamacor e acabámos por descobrir o Moinho do Maneio. Um lugar de natureza, de tranquilidade, de paz e de descanso. Com umas casinhas lindas, acolhedoras, com a particularidade de não ter televisão, mas com um imenso céu estrelado – lindo! É o sitio ideal para nos desligarmos do mundo e ligarmos à natureza e aos nossos. Tem várias actividades para fazer, como canoagem, trampolim, passeios a cavalo, entre outras. Totalmente kid-friendly, o ideal para nós, com animais, àgua,
espaço para correr, tudo o que eles adoram. Aconselhamos vivamente a colocarem na vossa lista de locais a conhecer.
Penamacor fica muito perto de Monsanto – a aldeia mais portuguesa de Portugal – o que é mais um ponto a favor para conhecerem este pedaço de Portugal.
